European Council 6/17/19

Today we are headed to the European Union Council building. First we had to get our security badges. Then we visited the information center.
The European Council is a collective body that defines the European Union's overall political direction and priorities. It comprises the heads of state or government of the EU member states, along with the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission.

Getting ready to listen to the first speaker of the day.
Our afternoon speaker was Cecilia Malmstrom, the EU Commissioner for Trade. Exciting stuff!

Remodel of one of the meeting rooms.

Original building built in the 1920's.

Arrival 6/16/19

I arrived to Brussels, Belgium in the late afternoon. I got 200 euros for spending money. Then I asked about getting a metro pass and spent an hour looking for the place to purchase it. I caught a taxi to my hotel Martin's Brussels EU Hotel.
Here is our first group meeting after our arrival. Educators from across the U. S. learning about the European Union.

Here is the view from my hotel room. It is after 9:30 at night.
